9TH ANNUAL LADIES NIGHT OUT

October 19th marked the 9th Annual Ladies Night out held in Tisdale!  It is an evening where Women come together to laugh, share stories, eat great food and enjoy great entertainment all while knowing they are contributing to a great cause.  All of the funds collected from Ladies Night Out go straight back to the North East Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter, Community Outreach Programming and the Treehouse (Emergency Receiving Home) in Melfort.

While planning this years event we did a bit of reflection on the previous 8 years.  There a many people and groups that have been supporting us since the very beginning.  Celia Schreiner, who owns Just For You Catering, has been serving up delicious goodness since the inception of the event.  This year was a fantastic buffet of chicken with lemon Mediterranean Sauce, mashed potatoes, Salad and all the fixings.  We can’t forget the dessert that she puts out; cheesecake, cream puffs and chocolate mousse in chocolate cups …. which are all homemade!!  The Tisdale Kinsmen are the brave souls who provide bar service for our room of approx 250 women and do an amazing job.  Another BIG mention is the Ladies from the Tisdale Scotiabank.  They bring out volunteers who help selling bar tickets and raffle tickets.  On top of this they also donate $5,000 each year!! This year we also had volunteers come out from Affinity Credit Union and Cornerstone Credit Union.

The other main attraction for the Ladies who come out each year is the raffle draws, there are a ton of prizes to be won!  These prizes are all graciously donated by local businesses in the community.  This year there was hair products, art, jewelry, gift cards, baskets made with various goodies, and the list goes on and on.  One special prize that everyone looks forward to each year is a homemade prize donated by the very talented, Dianne Wallington.  In the past she has created barn wood mirrors that are always unique, but this year she surprised us with a birdhouse that was nothing short of amazing!  Now, what Woman doesn’t like to feel like a Queen every once in a while?  We allow all of our guests the opportunity to bring that dream to life each year!  For $2 all the ladies can enter a draw to be a Queen for the evening, as well as her and her “princesses” get to move to a specially decorated table.  The Queen wrapped in a cloak and presented with a special gift.  This year her gift was a beautiful, Canadian Maple Leaf Diamond provided by Assaly Jewellers as well as a beautiful floral arrangement made by Tisdale Florist.

All of these things combined is what has made our event such a success this year, and for the eight years that came before.  We are so very grateful for all of the support we received from everyone and we couldn’t make it what it is without you.  We also hope that each lady leaves the evening feeling a little bit better than they came in; that she feels like she had a great time and made memories to last a lifetime.
